California Needs Water and Clean Power. It Might Have a Fix for Both.

California needs two important things: water and clean power. It often has dry weather, so water is important for everyone. Also, people need power for their homes and cars. Now, there is a new idea to help with both problems at the same time.

A special plan starts with building solar panels. These panels make clean electricity from the sun. But where do they build them? They build them right over the water canals. Canals are like long, narrow rivers that carry water to farms and cities. This is a very smart idea.

The solar panels make power, which is good. But they also do something else helpful. They create shade over the water. This shade stops the sun from making the water warm. When water gets warm, it quickly evaporates and disappears into the air. With the shade, less water evaporates. So, California saves water and gets clean power. This pilot program is a good step for the future.
