People fleeing Sudan civil war face ‘dire and deteriorating’ conditions in refuge city

A serious **humanitarian** crisis is rapidly growing in El Obeid, a city in Sudan. Many civilians are continually arriving in the city and nearby camps, escaping the ongoing civil war. This conflict is between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) **militia**. People on the ground report that the conditions are extremely difficult and are deteriorating quickly.

These individuals are often traumatized after leaving their homes and traveling from the surrounding countryside. El Obeid and its camps are already shockingly full, and more people continue to pour in daily. This influx makes the humanitarian situation very challenging for everyone, especially for vulnerable families and children who have been **displaced** by the fighting.

According to the UN, over 15,000 families have reached El Obeid since mid-July alone. This number adds to the more than 200,000 people who had already arrived in the first half of the year, as stated by government figures cited by Save the Children.
