A Diplomat From Myanmar Refuses to Give Up New York City Post

U Kyaw Moe Tun is a diplomat from Myanmar. He works at the United Nations (UN) in New York City. For more than five years, he does not leave his job. He also stays in his house in a nice part of New York City.

In 2021, a new group takes power in his country. This group is the military. They want to change who works at the UN. But U Kyaw Moe Tun says no. He believes he works for the old government, the one people chose. He says the military group is not the real government.

So, he still stays in his UN post. This is a very important job. He still lives in the house that comes with the job. The UN lets him stay. This makes the situation special because many countries watch what happens.
